Q. What’s the shelf life of CBD oil?
A. After you’ve opened the bottle, it should last for a year, but keep it in a cool, dark place. (And don’t worry, you don’t need to keep it in the refrigerator.) CBD oil will degrade over time. In fact, according to Dr. Earl Mindell, author of Healing with Hemp CBD Oil, “it will also turn rancid when exposed to oxygen, light, and heat.” You know it’s starting to go bad when the colour of the oil gets darker and has a burning odour. So if you believe your CBD oil is expired, we highly recommend disposing it.
Q. My friend said he only needs a little bit of CBD oil to help him sleep. It should do the same for me, right?
A. CBD has a different effect on different individuals. Each of us would have a unique response simply because of our DNA, which “can make a big difference in outcome,” verifies Mindell. In addition, you may end up with a different result compared to someone else because of the CBD’s brand, delivery method (i.e. oil, edible, etc), and the dosage. Overall, the best person to determine if CBD is working is yourself. If you don’t think one product is working, try another brand or delivery method.
Q. What is a medical cannabis prescription?
A. When you use medical cannabis, you are using it to help relieve a particular health condition. Each cannabis strain has a varied CBD:THC ratio; some people may benefit from a high-CBD strain, others may find relief from a strain with high amounts of THC. Many people use cannabis to alleviate anxiety, depression, arthritis, migraines, glaucoma and more. However, the best way to find out if medical cannabis is right for you is to seek advice from your health care practitioner.
